Best Mid-Range Android Tablets for Work & Study

Here is how to pick a mid-range Android tablet that turns into a real work and study setup in Malaysia, with a keyboard in the box or a cheap add-on.

Malaysia's keyboard-bundle market

Malaysian buyers increasingly expect the keyboard to come in the box, not as a separate purchase. HONOR positions itself as Malaysia's No.1 Android Tablet Brand and says its tablets come with keyboard cases and styluses so you don't buy them separately. The HONOR Pad 20 Series arrives with a full productivity set: a Smart Bluetooth Keyboard bundled at RM1,499, according to HONOR Malaysia.

If a bundle is not included, third-party tablet keyboards are easy to find. Shopee Malaysia, Lazada Malaysia and Harvey Norman all list tablet keyboards, including wireless Bluetooth models with a touchpad that work with Android phones and tablets. That keeps the total cost low, but you trade the fit and finish of an official case.

Our 5 Picks at a Glance

This shortlist covers the Xiaomi Pad 6, Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE, HONOR Pad 20 Series, HONOR Pad X8b LTE and Lenovo IdeaTab TB336FU. The HONOR Pad 20 Series is the bundle-led pick at RM1,499, while the HONOR Pad X8b LTE targets buyers who want LTE and a keyboard below RM1000. The Lenovo IdeaTab TB336FU 11" WUXGA WiFi ships with a folio keyboard and Tab Pen according to ALL IT Hypermarket, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE sits in Samsung's keyboard-ready Galaxy Tab S family. The Xiaomi Pad 6 rounds out the list for buyers who will add their own Bluetooth keyboard.

Bundled keyboard or buy separately

The fastest route to a work-ready tablet is a bundle. HONOR's Pad 20 Series at RM1,499 includes a Smart Bluetooth Keyboard, and HONOR says its tablets ship with keyboard cases and styluses. The Lenovo IdeaTab TB336FU is listed by ALL IT Hypermarket with a folio keyboard and Tab Pen, so check that the bundle is the one you are buying.

If you already own a keyboard, or the bundle is not available, a Bluetooth keyboard from Shopee or Lazada can cost far less than an official case. Logitech's Keys-To-Go 2 works with Android, ChromeOS, Windows, iPadOS, iOS and macOS, so one keyboard can serve a tablet and a laptop. Just confirm the key layout and trackpad support before you buy.

LTE, Wi-Fi and screen size

LTE matters for students who move between campus, home and commute. The HONOR Pad X8b LTE is pitched as the most budget LTE tablet with keyboard below RM1000, which suits a shared family tablet or a backup connection.

Wi-Fi models keep the price down and are fine for home and office use. The Lenovo IdeaTab TB336FU is an 11" WUXGA WiFi model, a size that fits a folio keyboard without feeling cramped on a desk. Match the screen size to your bag and your main task: reading and notes favour a smaller tablet, while split-screen work favours 11 inches and up.

Stylus, storage and RAM for study

A stylus changes how you study. HONOR bundles styluses with its tablets, and the Lenovo IdeaTab TB336FU listing includes a Tab Pen, so handwritten notes and PDF marking come at no extra cost.

Storage and RAM decide how long the tablet stays useful. The Lenovo IdeaTab TB336FU configuration listed by ALL IT Hypermarket is 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM, a sensible baseline for multitasking with a keyboard attached. If you keep lecture videos and large files, check whether the model you pick has expandable storage before you commit.

Where to Buy and What to Check

Buy from authorised Malaysian retailers and check the bundle contents on the listing. HONOR Malaysia's own channels confirm the RM1,499 Pad 20 Series bundle, and ALL IT Hypermarket lists the Lenovo IdeaTab TB336FU with its folio keyboard and Tab Pen. Shopee and Lazada are good for third-party keyboards, but confirm Android compatibility and warranty terms.

Before paying, confirm three things: whether the keyboard is included or extra, whether the model is LTE or Wi-Fi, and the exact RAM and storage. For the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE, check current price at your preferred retailer, since bundle and promo pricing moves. A quick hands-on with the keyboard's key travel and trackpad will tell you more than any spec sheet.
