MyDigital, Pepper Labs expand AI learning via Rakyat Digital

What happened
MyDIGITAL Corporation and Pepper Labs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand AI learning through Rakyat Digital. The MoU was exchanged at the AI-Ready Malaysia Summit 2026 on 14 August 2026.
The collaboration combines Malaysia’s Digital Learning Hub with Pepper Labs’ Dapur Digital community network. It aims to help more Malaysians understand, use and benefit from artificial intelligence.
Why it matters
The partnership supports Malaysia’s Towards an AI Nation 2030 agenda under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan. It also aligns with the Malaysia Digital 2030 Action Plan and the National AI Action Plan 2026-2030.
The collaboration focuses on expanding access to digital and AI skills. It aims to enable more Malaysians to participate in the digital economy.
How it works
MyDIGITAL Corporation will provide national coordination, structured learning pathways and digital access. Pepper Labs will support community-based delivery through its Dapur Digital network.
Dapur Digital transforms underutilised spaces in Program Perumahan Rakyat communities into learning and economic hubs. The partnership will use the Dapur Digital model to support the three stages of Rakyat Digital’s 3A approach: Awareness, Access and Adoption.
Impact on Malaysia
The initiative targets up to 50,000 Malaysians, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), university students and educators. It is supported through the AI Opportunity Fund for Asia-Pacific, implemented by AVPN with support from Google.org and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Adrian Marcellus, CEO of MyDIGITAL Corporation, said, “Malaysia’s AI Nation ambition will be realised not by technology alone, but by whether people can use it confidently and responsibly to improve their lives and livelihoods.”
The partnership aims to create a clearer pathway from learning to practical use. It extends national digital initiatives through community-based partners.
